Dear Friends,
Our new season has got off to a flying start. Rehearsals for our first concert are well underway, and we were delighted to be able to sing at The Big Sing last Saturday, in support of St Michael's Hospice.
We have some real treats in store for you this season. Our concerts will cover some diverse and exciting repertoire. There's something to suit everyone's taste, starting with glorious Baroque choral masterpieces next month. Further details are given below. Despite rising costs, we've managed to maintain ticket prices at last year's level, with standard tickets starting at £12.50, and a cheaper option for students and under-18s.
We hope to see you at one - or more - of our concerts!

Your Christmas begins here!
Due to the pending sad closure of St Mary in the Castle, our evergreen concert of Christmas favourites is moving to Christ Church. Come and enjoy much-loved carols, and some less familiar ones, too.
This year we shall be joined by the choir of St Thomas’ Primary School, Winchelsea.
Hastings Philharmonic Choir with Cromwell Brass, Francis Rayner (piano), conducted by Marcio da Silva.

At our concert on 5 November, we shall again be selling Hastings Philharmonic Choir greetings cards, in aid of choir funds. Featuring Peter Mould's excellent photos of the choir in performance, and with the HPC logo on the back, the cards are left blank for your own greeting, and would make ideal Christmas cards, general purpose greetings cards or correspondence notelets.
Pack of 6 cards with envelopes (2 each of 3 designs) - £3
Card dimensions 10x15 cm.
If you're unable to attend on 5 November but would like to purchase cards, please get in touch with Lucy:

Looking ahead to 2023 ... |

|
Our season continues with spring and summer concerts in 2023.
We look forward to Saturday 15th April, again at Christ Church, St Leonards, when we'll perform Classical choral greats, including Haydn's Te Deum and Mozart's superb Great Mass in C minor, K427. And, for extra measure, HPO's bassoonist, Ben Exell, will feature as soloist in Mozart's sprightly Bassoon Concerto. With Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Marcio da Silva.
For our concert on Saturday 15th July the venue will change to St John's Church, Pevensey Road, where the major work to be performed will be the stunning Gloria by Poulenc. With soprano soloist, piano and organ accompaniment, and conducted by Marcio da Silva.

HPC has been mounting top-quality concerts featuring large-scale choral masterpieces since 1928! No choir of our longevity can survive without the constant generosity of its supporters. We are grateful, as ever, to Christ Church and other local churches who provide us with the wonderful settings in which we perform. As well as giving audiences the opportunity to hear high-class musical performances in local venues, our concerts also provide young vocal soloists and orchestral musicians with essential experience as they establish and further their careers. Such concerts are expensive to put on, and we cannot hope to cover the considerable costs involved from our members' subscriptions or from ticket sales alone.
We are extremely grateful to those Friends who have generously supported us with donations in the past. For those who would like to give additional financial support this season, we are continuing our current schemes: you may choose to become a Patron of Hastings Philharmonic Choir with a minimum donation of £25, or to Sponsor a Musician (£150 sponsors an orchestral player, £300 a soloist, or £500 the conductor).
For further information about these schemes, or to make a donation, please either visit our website: https://www.hastingsphilchoir.org.uk/donate
or email Maggi on
patronsadmin@hastingsphilchoir.org.uk
Donations may be made by card payment, directly via our website, or by cheque or bank transfer.
Any donation, large or small, helps us to present the high-quality performances that you expect and love, and that so enrich the musical life of our town.
