Dear Friends of Hastings Philharmonic Choir,
We are delighted to announce that, after so many months without singing, we finally began rehearsing again on 17 June! This decision followed clarification from the Government that covid-secure indoor rehearsals to prepare for concerts with a paying audience were allowed within the guidelines. We are immensely grateful to Bishop Peter and the team at Christ Church, St Leonards, for supporting and facilitating our safe return to rehearsals.
It's been wonderful (and exhausting!) to return to singing together. We're especially pleased to welcome some new members to our choir, several of whom have patiently waited for months to meet us since making their initial enquiry about joining. Many of them were attracted by our shiny new website, which is proving to be an excellent resource for the choir and our supporters.
We are currently preparing for our summer concert - read on for more information!

Our summer concert will feature our long-awaited performances – postponed from November last year – of two evergreen choral classics: Fauré’s sublime Requiem and Vivaldi’s joyful Gloria. Come and join us, together with our magnificent young professional soloists and instrumentalists, on this momentous musical journey from consolation to jubilation, darkness to light!
Tickets at £15 each + booking fee are available now via Eventbrite. All tickets must be pre-booked for this concert, and audience numbers will be strictly limited to allow for social distancing and to ensure a covid-secure environment. So book early to avoid disappointment!
Before attending, please read our Covid-19 Audience Policy which can be viewed here.

We have some treats in store for you next season, too!
Dates and final programme details are still to be confirmed, but our plans include:
On Saturday 6 November 2021 we shall be accompanied by Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra for performances of Mozart’s solemn Requiem, his Symphony No. 39 in E flat major, and the beautiful Lux Aeterna by Morton Lauridsen.
Our ever-popular Christmas concert, on Saturday 18 December 2021, will also be held in conjunction with the HPO, including such seasonal orchestral favourites as Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite alongside choral works including Vaughan Williams’ lovely Fantasia on Christmas Carols and well-loved Christmas carols for all to join in.
More details of these and our 2022 concerts will follow in our next newsletter.
